Read N' Review Saturdays - ALL OVER THE PLACE by Serena Clarke

Happy Saturday!

We can't be truly great writers unless we are willing to read others' work. It helps build our 'chops', and aids in developing a style of our own. By reading books by other writers, whether newbies like me or more experienced authors, we learn what we like, what we don't like, and more about what kind of story teller we wish to be. That said, I'm also an escapist; so anytime I can sit back and read a fun story that'll take me away for a little bit, I'm just all about it. I actually read this one in time for what should have been last Saturday's "Read N' Review" but, obviously, I got started late (cue the sheepish grin).

Being that I'm publishing with Crimson Romance, I decided to start reading romance novels by my fellow Crimson Authors. For starters, I went with "All Over The Place", a wonderful Contemporary Romance written by Serena Clarke - it did not disappoint! And if this is Serena's debut novel, then it is truly a promising sign of things to come!

The fun begins with a handsome American stranger and his leather bag, and we follow the heroine as she travels far and wide to find said hottie; along the way she learns more about herself, her friends, and even her wayward but adorable Mom. Livi Calloway is a lovable character to say the least, offering us an outside view of what we've all experienced at one time or another - love found, love lost, and the butterflies that flap furiously in our tummies at the thought of a new crush.

The title of the book raises one's expectations, and the content within does not let us down: smart and sassy author Serena Clarke treats us to the best of Europe: romantic Paris, Trafalgar Square and yes, even Pooh Corner. You will definitely hang on to her every word from beginning to end, wanting to know what happens to Miss Calloway as she edges her way toward love and self-actualization.

This book is a fun, wonderful little getaway, and I recommend it to all readers looking for happy sighs, giggles, and tingly thoughts of friendship and camaraderie. Please, fellow readers/writers, check out the lovely Serena Clarke on the web at www.serenaclarke.com, and be sure to pick up an e-copy of 'All Over The Place'! Until next time, lovelies - enjoy your weekend!

S.
